Note: This blog ran from December 2005 - October 2007, and has since been decommissioned and is no longer updated.
What is this?
This is a weblog run by EarthLink. It's a site updated just about every day, sometimes multiple times a day, with links, articles, pictures, and discussions about EarthLink, the web, and everything. There is one author, me. This is not a tech support or customer service site -- since it's only staffed by me I don't have time to run the regular weblog and field tech support questions all day. But I do gladly accept general and specific questions not having to do with individual customer support, through e-mail.
Oh. So how did this come about?
The first two entries explain the where and why of Earthling:
I see. Ahem...so...pardon my ignorance but what is a blog?
Good question. A blog (short for web log) is a web site containing dated entries. Think of it like an online journal. Blogs are usually written in the first person by an individual or group of folks, and they update regularly, sometimes every day. There are many different kinds of blogs including corporate sponsored blogs like ours, personal blogs where people post intimate details about their lives, product blogs about how best to use individual products, and topical blogs about everything from politics to cheesemaking.
The best way to understand blogs is to read some. There are millions of blogs on the web, but here are a few that some of us read: Gawker, Scobleizer, Boing Boing, 43 Folders, and Little.Yellow.Different.
