Just wolfed down a Publix sub, charged up the laptop batteries, and am hitting the internets for a quick update. Here's a wider shot as well: I just saw on Twitter that there are 185+ people at the Lenox Mall...
So if you want a good shot at it here in Metro Atlanta, I'd come on down here to the AT & T corporate store on Cascade Road as soon as you can:
As it turns out, the security guy here is coordinating iPhone release security for all of Fulton County, and was kind enough to give us a quick rundown of what he's heard about the other stores. He says there are significant lines at Atlantic Station, Lenox Mall, Briarcliff Rd., Roswell, and Camp Creek. So safe to say we're not at any of those places. And there's no line here so far except for myself and Ken, Brandon.
iPhones one through four will be bought by Brandon and his family. Brandon drew waiting duty in the family, and he and his sisters will all be on the family plan. The AT&T store folks said they'd honor the family...
When: Wednesday, June 27th from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm Where: EarthLink HQ, 1375 Peachtree St. 30309 What: Round two of conversations about the changing role of the audience in relation to news media of all forms. How: It's free. Just sign up here. Food For Thought:
Last night's Social Media Club meeting focused on the the changing face of media, and a phrase ending with "...the people formerly known as the audience." The setup was a little different than usual, because we had a set topic and a slate of specific presenters (Steve Riley from WSB-TV and Marlon Manuel from the AJC) rather than the usual and flatter setup of all "participants" who might also be presenters as part of the meeting. The objective was to look at how those organizations view the current media space, and that's why we had them set up as panelists. That did serve to change things up.

This morning around 8 a.m. resident technology diva and VP in EarthLink's Audience division Erika Jolly Brookes is appearing live on Fox's Good Day Atlanta, on WAGA Fox 5.
I spent some time at PodCamp Atlanta this past weekend. It was great to see so many people interested in making their own audio and video stuff all getting together to talk about the craft. It seems like thanks to events like this, more and more people interested in making things online are starting to find each other in Atlanta.
As both a resident of Atlanta and an employee of EarthLink, I'm excited to announce that we've been chosen to build, own, and operate the City's new municipal Wi-Fi network. The network will be similar in model to what we're building in other cities, including retail residential 1 Mbps up/down service, open access for competing providers to sell over our network, small business support with T-1 replacement services, and programs to help bridge the digital divide. There's more information about the city's RFP process on the Wireless Atlanta section of AtlantaGA.gov.
