School- and company-based social network Facebook just opened up their registration to everyone who wants to join. Since I was previously not a facebook-ee, I decided to sign up and time the registration process to see how long it would take if you filled in all of the profile fields they give you, giving at least minimal thought to your answers.

In the past couple of years I've noticed that the volume of content passaround e-mails I receive has decreased substantially. I'm not complaining, but I am curious about what has brought about the change. I can think of several explanations for this, many of which I will tell you about right now:
