Chances are, if you’re reading this, you also use Facebook. According to a recent Pew Internet report, 65% of online adults use social networking sites (only email and search engines are used more frequently).
So, as a Facebook user, you should be interested in a big change that’s coming to your profile page (and if you’re not a Facebook user yet, now’s a great time to sign up free).
On September 22, Facebook announced “a new kind of profile” called the Timeline and said to expect it in a few weeks. So it should be launching any day now.
Timeline was developed to give Facebook users a better, more prominent and visual place to keep all their favorite and most important stuff. It will highlight what really matters to you and it says something about your life, as opposed to simply featuring your latest posts, no matter how trivial.
There will be a big photo, called your “cover,” on the top of your page. You get to choose this photo. Then you’ll see your posts and photos and can choose which moments to feature (by starring them) or hide. If you don’t see things you want to add, go to your Activity Log and click on any post to feature it.
The new Facebook Timeline will also allow you to feature new social apps to help you highlight things you do on your timeline.
