You Are Now Free to Move About the Start Page
We launched a new release of the Preview start page last night, with a big addition. Now you can reorder all the content in the middle of the page. For example, if you want news at the top of the page and your email preview at the bottom of the page, you can easily switch them around.
To drag a content box, click on the up/down arrow icon in the upper right corner of the box.
Hold down your mouse button, and drag the box up or down on the page. When you release your mouse button, the content box will land wherever you drop it.
If you're using Internet Explorer 7, you may run into a bug where two content boxes end up overlapping after you do some reordering. We're working on a fix for this one. In the meantime, you can get rid of the overlap by clicking the refresh button in your browser or clicking between tabs in one of the overlapping content boxes.
Comments
I think you've completely missed it on this redesign. Ideally, I would like to see my news at the very top of the page. Instead you have usurped even more teritory for buttons and search boxes.
Additionaly, the ad box on the right is way too big. Put it back in the left column where it is less obtrusive.
You have not given us a way to get rid of things we don't like - mail preview for instance. What happened to the second page?

I don't like the new format. I have fewer options to customize, and I cannot delete the garbage that I don't want. Also, the Office Depot add was bad enough on the old start page, but good grief!! the new ad is worse.

Obtrusive ads (again), unable to remove Books, Word of the Day, etc.
Oh, and did I say I love Flashblock and Adblock?
I pay premium pricing for ELN's DSL, and do not care for web pages that resemble NASCAR advertising.

I do not like the new Start Page and will wait as long as I can before having to use it. It has unneccessary things on it that aren't personalized to me at all. Gloria Brown Bates

Thank you, everybody. We have more customization options coming down the pipe soon -- stay tuned. Jack, you can add in Chicago and Cincinnati headlines back to the News area. Enter edit mode by clicking the "Add/Edit Sources" link. This post includes a walk-through of how to add sources.

It seems more efficient. It has more helpful links that you do not have to search for.

Center column too narrow, must scroll left and right to view. Ads take up too much space on the right. Would like the ability to remove or move the links "Stocks, weather, sports, reminders, security" to a different location. Need more customization of the whole page, what happened to page 2?

What does URL stand for? I like the new design, but it will take me a while to orient myself to it. Keep up the good work!

Why are you trying to force something new on me? I desire to have my original start page, that is what I am used to. I for one don't cqare for someone elses desire to for change. If you can'trestore my home page the way it was, I will cancel my subscription.

Hi Henry,
Thanks for the comments! URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator. Simply put, it's the address for a Web site that you see at the top of the screen when you're online (for example, http://www.earthlink.net).

I like the way you can see all the headline blurbs at once on the old start page. On the new one I have to click on each topic to see the news blurbs. Also what happened to the sports section where you could easily see the sports scores of the teams and sports you picked?
