Why doesn’t Widows recognize that I have anti-virus software installed?
You have complete antivirus, spyware, and firewall protection as long as the Protection Control Center is installed. The Windows Security Center is just not recognizing it at this time. We are going to release a patch in the very near future that will let the Windows Security Center know that an AV product is installed. Rest assured your computer is completely protected. You can also turn off the Windows Firewall as it is redundant to the Protection Control Center Firewall.
Is Protection Control Center compatible with Norton Anti-Virus?
The Protection Control Center is not compatible with Norton or any other existing antivirus solution on the market. The Protection Control Center was designed to be a comprehensive Internet Security Suite that protects you from all threats on the Internet. We believe that the Protection Control Center is a great product and invite you to try it for yourself.
How often are the PCC spyware/virus definitions updated?
PCC definitions are updated very frequently, sometimes once a day or more. You can expect to receive new definitions at least once every couple of days and even up to once a day, depending on the threat risks. Remember, with the PCC you're not only receiving virus definitions but also Spyware definitions, so updates will be more frequent. I hope you enjoy the product!
With Earthlink protection, Do I still need an antivirus program or not?
If you use the new Protection Control Center you will not need to use another antivirus program. In fact, you won’t be able to install the PCC unless you have removed any existing antivirus programs on your computer. Antivirus programs are not compatible with each other, so only one can be used at a time. The PCC also provides Spyware protection aso you won’t need to use other Spyware programs either.
Does the new PCC work with older Windows versions?
The EarthLink Protection Control Center requires Windows 2000 or XP. If you currently have an antivirus program, I recommend using that program until you upgrade to a newer operating system. Once you've upgraded, I encourage you to try the Protection Control Center.
Can I download and use PCC without using TotalAccess 2005?
You do not need to download TA 2005 in order to use the Protection Control Center. If you click this link, you’ll be taken to the page where you can just download the Protection Control Center without having to use TA. I hope you enjoy using our new protection product.
