The big Internet news of the past week was definitely Facebook, Facebook, Facebook.
After years of speculation about when the company would go public and how big the IPO
would be, the big event actually happened. Facebook went public last Friday on NASDAQ with the symbol FB, raising $16 billion in its IPO and putting the company’s valuation over $100 billion (yes, that’s billion, with a B), and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg’s wealth at about $19 billion. The IPO euphoria was soon followed by IPO horror stories, a tumbling stock price, and several lawsuits. And in the middle of all that, Zuckerberg actually got married to his college sweetheart Priscilla Chan, whose wedding dress became an instant hit. And just today, Facebook launched a new iPhone camera app. Quite a week.
