Our day to day lives have become increasingly filled with technology: computers, cell phones, tablets, iPods, eReaders…and the list goes on. Many people never turn off any of their devices so they can constantly be connected. While this sounds like a good idea, it may actually be hurting their electronics.
Even with “sleep mode,” experts suggest completely shutting down each electronic item in your possession at least once a month. Devices that are left constantly on can develop shorter battery life, overheat, or simply act “odd.” Our machines need rest (“shutdown” full rest) to be at their best. Turning off your machines at least once a month can help with performance, battery life, and save you time if you do this right before calling support (ever noticed how the first thing a tech support person will ask is for you to shut down and restart your machine?).
So remember that, even though we want to be constantly connected, your machines still need a nap!
