Tomorrow, users with banners turned on will notice a change to the banner layout in Web Mail. About a year ago the main banner on the Inbox page was moved from the top of the page to the right side of the page. At the time that move was made, 15% of our users were running an older 800x600 display size on their computer, and those users benefit from the side placement. There are fewer of those users today, but it is now being put back for two other reasons as well. We now think it is more intrusive on the side for most users, after having it for a while and getting feedback. And, the banner industry is fickle and they are moving away from that skyscraper style now, and they prefer the top placement again.

There were no other changes in this release.

really frustrated w/ big ad at top, the misleading ads that appear to be from microsoft, etc. the window for messages on webmail is already so small compared to gmail and others, and i now find webmail slower to open and change windows. that, along w/ additional charges for extra storage space/no ads are making webmail less competitive.

Thank you SO much for moving the banner back up top. It was a major annoyance when on the side.

I'm not sure what is trying to load on the right side of the sign in page but my computer is blocking it and that causes that page to take a very long time to load.

We've found a problem there affecting IE6 users, and we're working on it. In the meantime, in IE you can go to your Tools / Internet Options / Advanced and scroll down to the last section, and uncheck the box to "check for publisher's certificate revocation" and the delay will stop after you restart your browser.

Hi,

Was the online change introduced in 5.61 with regards to the banner ideas. Recently (possibly within the last 2 months) I have noticed that when I report spam, the confirmation window that appears showing me the address to be blocked is about half the width of the screen. This new change results in the height of the page being beyond what will fit on the screen. In other words, previously, the Submit button was on the same screen, but now with the narrower width, I have to scroll down to get to the Submit button.

This is guaranteed to happen when my resolution is 1024x768. It usually doesn't happen at 1280x1024.

That page hasn't been modified, and we're unable to reproduce this behavior. Please give me your exact browser version and operating system version, and we'll look into it.
