A few days ago we turned on the new 6.0 Web Mail interface for a limited number of users, and we'll be increasing that after Christmas so look for it. You can see a picture of what to expect earlier in the blog (scroll down the main page). If you are already seeing the new interface, please send feedback using the Feedback link that is in Web Mail (at the upper right in the new layout).
I will be unavailable to respond to or publish blog comments after today until January 5, so I'll be disabling new comments until then.
I'll catch up the currently pending ones today.
Happy Holidays!

Dear Earthlink Webmail,
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful, productive and Happy New Year!
One of my email profiles was upgraded just before the holidays and I am a bit happier. I was hoping though that I would be able to preference "Spell-Check" before sending. I constantly forget to run spell-checker. It would certainly be productive if we had a way to remind us before sending.
Also, I do not want the NEWS link. I will never go to the link unless I click on it by mistake. I am paying extra for my service NOT to have extraneous stuff on my WebMail. I also began to have annoying add on my login page.
Will you please be so kind and remove these?
Thank you,
Virginia Benedict

I notice that the bottom of my web mail indicates that I have web mail version 6.0.7. Just noticed it today. Then I read this blog and realized that some changes were up. The system is running so slow and it is impossible to open e-mails or send, especially today. Could the changes be the reason for this slowdown? I don't as yet notice any changes in the look of my webmail or with what I do just yet. I have a Mac, OSX 10.4.11 with Safari and have not up until now been able to use different fonts, color or anything beyond the "regular." With the changes coming, will the Macs finally have this service?
The slowness during the first week of January was due to an outside attack on our systems.

I am still seeing the old-style interface, with "Web Mail version 6.0.7" on the front page.
But the response time for webmail today has been terrible. Long waits for even the login page to load, very long waits to actually read messages, etc. I'm not seeing problems with any other site -- unless I have a window open to webmail, in which case everything is somewhat slowed down. If I close out webmail completely, no more problems on any web site -- have even watched TV episodes on hulu without delays.
This is on a mac running OS 10.4.11; the problem happens with both firefox 2 and safari 3.
Does this have anything to do with the new release being live for some people?
